Investing in the next generation of manufacturing talent is essential to the future of UK industry, and this month Hymid is pleased to welcome Poppy to the team for the first of two work experience placements.
This month, Hymid welcomed Poppy to the team for the first of two work experience placements. Poppy is studying for a T-Level in Design and Manufacturing Engineering, and her time with us began with a three-week placement across several areas of the business. She will return later in the year for a further four weeks, focusing on a specific area of the business that she wants to explore in more depth.
This structured approach gives Poppy genuine, hands-on exposure to how a modern injection moulding business operates, from CAD and tooling through to production.
Poppy shared her experience so far:
"Everyone here has been really supportive with all my questions, helping me build real skills across CAD systems and tooling equipment, including the mills. They have made me feel like part of the team from day one. It has given me a much clearer understanding of how the business operates, how products are designed and manufactured for customers, and how mould tools are maintained. These are skills I know will benefit both my schoolwork and my future career."
Placements like this reflect our ongoing commitment to developing engineering talent and supporting the pipeline of skilled professionals entering the sector, while bringing fresh perspective into our own teams.
We look forward to Poppy's time with us and to sharing more about her experience!
