Team Hymid is thrilled to share our latest success – our recent and latest award win at this year’s Plastics Industry Awards in collaboration with Arburg Limited! Our supply partnership has not only been longstanding but has now been officially recognised with the Supplier Partnership – Prime Machinery Award at PIA 2023!
For over 25 years, Hymid has trusted Arburg’s cutting-edge injection moulding machines to deliver precision and innovation. Our journey began with the acquisition of our first Arburg machine in the 1990s, marking the onset of our specialization in two-shot and over-moulding manufacturing. What sets Hymid apart is our expertise in two-shot injection moulding, a capability made possible and perfected through our partnership with Arburg. The award-winning collaboration underscores our dedication to continuous improvement and going the extra mile for our customers. Recently Arburg engineers helped Team Hymid to upgrade one of our two-shot capable machines in an effort to overcome an issue for one of our important medical clients. The modified ARBURG 470 ‘S’ machine, affectionately known as ‘ARBURG 8’, underwent technical upgrades, significantly enhancing dosage speed. The engineers also fitted additional valves to both injection units of the machine, yielding better movement control for cold feed products that require a sprue break.
This improvement empowers our operators to create more accurate components faster and more efficiently, ultimately leading to a machine that surpasses expectations. This challenging project was a first for ARBURG, which saw engineers from ARBURG coming onsite to apply hardware and software upgrades. Usual practice would be to transport the machine off-site, however, this was not possible due to time constraints and production demands on the machine. The project was a logistical challenge, but due to Hymid and Arburg’s engineering and planning abilities, plastics production was not affected. Meaning that upgrades could take place but not at the expense of a drop in quality or productivity on the factory floor.
