Schools Design Challenge 2013: 'Thinking Out Of The Box'

What a great day! During 'Tomorrow's Engineers Week', Hymid Multi-Shot set 4 local schools a Design Challenge at The Energy Centre, Paignton. Time was tight, and the students enjoyed a grand tour of the eco-centre, but boy did they deliver! With special thanks to Kathryn Hughes (of The Design Programme) and Symon Sweet (of Symon James) for bringing with them a wealth of inspirational mentorship: Maurice Bard and Robert Dooley. for judging. And of course The South West Energy Centre for being a superb venue, and last but not least, the four Schools: • Brixham College • Churston Ferrers Grammar School • St Cuthbert Mayne • Torquay Boys Grammar School The brief was to come up with a memorable, eye-catching and innovative way of packaging the Hymid twin-shot key ring and memory stick: to fit through a standard letterbox and to consider ease and cost of manufacture/postage. The winning team of six students was presented with their own Raspberry Pi computer, with a case (injection moulded by Hymid).
