Investors in People: Looking After Our Greatest Asset…

Updated: Jan 26

Here at Hymid, we know that as manufacturers – our people are our greatest asset. We’re committed to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for our employees. This is an ongoing process and something that we take great pride in.

Let’s face it, the happier our staff are – the more they are committed to maintaining our high-quality promise and excellent customer service, so taking care of them isn’t just the right thing to do, it makes sense from a business standpoint. We have a number of schemes in place to give our employees a real say in how the business is operated and maintained, and we always look to raise people from the ranks before we look to hire new talent. These are just small elements of what we do to ensure that Team Hymid is a happy and productive bunch. We also look to maintain our Investors in People status. Recently we were reaudited by IIP and are proud to announce that we once again have met their requirements. This achievement is a testament to our commitment to staff happiness and growth. We scored particularly high on:

  1. Our SMT’S Leadership: Team Hymid understand that the aim in establishing our new SMT is to take Hymid forward and double turnover in the next five years.

  2. Our response to COVID 19: Our staff felt confident in the leadership our SMT provided during the pandemic and how additional health and safety guidance was implemented.

  3. Our Investment in new personnel: We have invested in new sales and marketing roles to support growth.

  4. Upskilling and development: Our SMT have undertaken several training workshops with an external provider to prepare them for their new roles. We have also invested in training our lower and middle management colleagues, and production operators ensuring that new skills and experiences are being developed and maintained in all areas of the business.

  5. Keeping Everyone Informed: We hold quarterly staff ‘town hall’ meetings to update everyone in the business on performance and plans.

  6. Employee Representation Group: We established an Employee Representative group in 2022 to give our staff a boots-on-the-ground say in how the business is run. Feedback from this group has resulted in improvements.

  7. Cost-of-living increase: In response to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, an increase in pay was awarded to everyone in the business, in April 2023. Team Hymid is excited to take on future challenges together, as a united front, looking to tackle and overcome issues for our clients and help bring amazing products to market in 2023, and beyond.
